At St. Attractas Residence we recognise the challenges that living with dementia poses to our residents.  We are actively working to make our home more dementia friendly and incorporate as many dementia friendly design features. 

Our Director of Nursing is a trainer in the ‘Best Practice in Dementia Care Program’ which was delivered by Stirling University in Scotland.  She runs an annual training program to roll this out to the care team.  Staff attend dementia awareness training and training on how to support our residents with dementia and the challenges it poses.

We employ an activities team who are dedicated to carry out an activities program for all residents.  There is a huge emphasis on sessions, both group and individual which are designed to benefit our residents with dementia.
