We would like to take a moment today to wish a very Happy 66th Wedding Anniversary to John and Carmel Mullin.
John Mullin from Inishmore, Aran Islands and Carmel of Longford, who are both 91 years young, are celebrating their 66th year of marriage. Many thanks to their son Eugene for contacting us and letting us know. He informs us there will be many happy memories shared and no doubt a few tears to flow when they play their dad’s brother’s button box and tin whistle at the family tea party they are planning today.
Special hello to John and Carmel’s children, Carmen, John, Eugene and Maggie who are all traveling over from England today to celebrate this special day with their parents and of course to all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John and Carmel first met in Kentish Town, London in the 1950s. Carmel comes from Longford and John from Inishmore, Aran Islands, County Galway. The children commented that they all have fond memories of visiting both areas over the years and that they are all blessed to have such wonderful loving parents. John and Carmel spent 44 years in North London and Enfield and fondly remember the many Irish clubs and Parish Halls including the Gresham and the National where they often walked the floor together to the Galway Shawl.
They retired to Swinford, Mayo where they have been for the last 27 years a place they have always loved and have made many friends over the years. We believe they are very well known to the locals in the town who have affectionally nicknamed them the two lovers as they were regularly seen having walks around the town together arm in arm.
God bless them both and all the family. We send all our love and best wishes today and I am sure many of our followers will also want to do the same. Have a wonderful day!
